Enough is Enough!

One would think that women were asking for something astronomical, unfathomable or unattainable – and yet all that is being asked is for EQUAL RIGHTS – you know the ‘normal’ rights and privileges  many males in this world are afforded every.single.day in this patriarchal world (unless of course you are First Nations, poor, gay, transexual, have a disability and such)…

What are women asking and marching in protest for, you ask? Oh not much at all – you know something as significant as THE END OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION, VIOLENCE, SEXISM, MYSOGYNY, CORRUPTION, LACK OF EQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE, THE PATRIACHY HOLD AND VIEWS, LACK OF SAFETY IN THE COMMUNITY AND WORKPLACES AND DANGEROUS WORKPLACES AND WORKPLACE CULTURES!!

#March4Justice is also asking for a fully detailed comprehensive, inclusive examination into every single case of gendered violence. Also to have referrals given to the appropriate organisations/authorities and, we want FULL accountability for these such findings. #March4Justice and ALL women want every single one of the 55 – YES 55! recommendations from the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Respect@Work report of the National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces 2020 implemented fully.

Also requested to be fully implemented is the enactment of a federal Gender Equality Act to promote gender equality. It should include a gender equity audit of Parliamentary practices and, to increase public funding for gendered violence prevention to world’s best practice

Yet, the above issues – which have been major issues for many years is repeatedly ignored by the patriarchy and government alike for DECADES. WHY?! WHY is it so hard to give the same rights to your Grandmothers, Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, Nieces, Cousins, Granddaughters???  Are us women  seen as not valued enough to have these rights and entitlements that the patriarchy are afforded every-day?! To feel and be safe from being sexually harassed, not to work in an environment that is safe and free from the above mentioned?

Guess What? I am here to tell you: We are far more than merely bosses, Grandmothers, Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, Nieces, Cousins, Granddaughters… We are HUMAN – I know shocking to some – though it is true. This bullsh!t stops today. It ends here. It ends with me. It ends with you. It ends with us!

By the way, I must ask … Where is our ‘dependable, trustworthy and here for the people always’ (I say this with eyes rolling out of my head) PM Morrison? .. Most likely where he always is when it comes to Women’s issues – in the wind and ‘busy’ effing up the country even more…and what is up with McCormack telling Janine Hendry (organiser of #March4Justice) and the women who he met with in the corridor of Parliament  “I’m not making any promises, but I’ll see what I can do”?! Pffft, what a response.

As Kimberlé Crenshaw says, “All inequality is not created equal.”
